How is that turning out for you?

Things may not seem like

they always turn out for the best. . .

but sometimes

we don't see very far either.    ~ MGSK

Now and again I wonder why my prayers aren’t answered, why I don’t get what I’ve been hoping for, for so long.  Why, Why, Why, then I remember the ant.

There once was an ant.  He was strong, and capable and worked very, VERY hard.  Day in and out, he did his job, whatever that may be.  Lifting 10x his own weight, climbing a huge wall and facing traps, and enemies and dangers. Still, it seemed like he just never knew what was coming.  There were so many things that he had to look out for.  IF he just had some vantage point that could see further than he could, well, life would be simple!  He could plan better, and react better, and be just al together a better . . . ant.

I happened to see this fellow, he was trudging across the divide between myself and a large crumb of toast and honey.  I could see his senses kick in, and he was heading straight for that luscious and glorious piece of treasure to take back to his hill.  He would be the ant of the hour!  Problem was, what he couldn’t see, was the broom in my hand, nor the dust pan already just around the corner. I could see his future, but he alas could not.  I would even feel sorry for him, if I liked ants, which I do not.  :: wicked smile :: So, instead of success and glory, what he got, was the dust bin, being swept right up with the crumb and then bagged and carried and tossed into the garbage bin.

Since I don’t have the vision of what happened next, I can’t inform you, but what I do know is this.  Advantage points matter.  Seeing around corners is helpful, and seeing farther than you currently are able, is a huge help in the day to day.  The ant, while a failure in this instance, can teach us a great lesson.  Find something who can see further than you can, and trust their advice.

Perhaps things aren’t ready to happen yet. Perhaps there is a dustpan waiting just around the corner, and I am lucky that my vision is wide enough to account for the unseen.  Allowing things to happen in their own timing, almost always brings a greater success rate than attempting to scurry along with blinders on, hoping that there is nothing else in my way.

Beware of what looks easy.  Often the cost is more than the cautious path.  For the ant, I was his demise, but I could have just as easily been his salvation, that was, if I liked ants!  Aren’t you grateful I am not your prophet?  Keep getting swept up and tossed out?  How is that working out for you?  Try finding someone or something bigger than you, to help guide.
