There Will Always be Something "Out of Place"

There Will Always be Something "Out of Place"

A happy mess
This is my living room after my mother died.  No before you go all judgy on me, my mother was SUPER organized.  Things were labeled and filed and in binders.  Her passwords were in a file, her financials were in a book, her trust was done, and her will in place.  Even her funeral spot was paid for as well as the funeral itself.

That said. . . well, you can see the mess.

To be fair, WE made the mess.  In going through boxes and boxes and files up on files, we had to determine what needed to be kept and what could be tossed.  We got it down to about 30 storage boxes, 25 of which are still in storage five years later.  Maybe it is a mess, or maybe it is joyful, s a life is remembered and revisited.

We are like that, no matter if you are a minimalist and have one decorative bowl on your spotless grey table, or a hoarder-t0-be, who can't even part with a tissue box. (It has to be good for something!. . . ) Things get moved.  Things wear out.  Things are misplaced (you know, in that "much better spot" so that they will never be seen again.

An errant hair that brushes your forehead for days before you pluck it out.  A word spoken at the wrong time, the wrong place or a text to the wrong person (whoopsie!  Who hasn't experienced that??) Sometimes they are easy-fixes, like a pluck.  Sometimes they are unfix-able - the wrong text to the wrong person. Sometimes they become an advantage, "No, its fine really.  If I'd known you felt that way, I would have helped!"

So perhaps it less about the place, and more about the 'something' we are dealing with.

Is it needed?

Is it wanted?

Is it valuable?

Is it important?

Is it finished?

Is it bringing negativity?

Is it joyful?

. . . and so, SO many more questions that will actually determine if this "something" whether a word, an item, a thought, an action, or an idea.  It doesn't matter.  The 'where, when, who, what, how' pales to the WHY.

So next time you see, hear, feel, something is 'out of place', consider the 'something' first, and the right place may reveal itself.  --<--©  MGSKeller
